Josh spent his morning following up Homeroom teachers making sure that all the homerooms will have a page ready to print in the magazine representing them. Chelsea M wrote up her good copy of the interview she conducted last week with her mother Tracey. Kate worked on perfecting the magazines layout in collaboration with Matt and Rachael. Abby and Chelsea H went and took photos of staff members to add to their profiles previously written up. Kiera worked on an article discussing why individual students chose to attend Nathalia Secondary College. Pru spent her time working on her homerooms page to be featured. Charlie is fixing up the layouts for his year level pages.

Today's focus is on the production side of the magazine. Josh edited his school logo and worked on his home rooms page to be featured in the magazine. Charlie worked to finalise the year level photo pages. Abby edited and refined Kian's page border designs to make it neat and ready for the printers. Abby prepared to interview our Principal John Sciacca; and Chelsea prepared to interview her mother Tracey Mark who is actively involved in the community including the local paper and football and netball club. Rachael worked on the layout today as well as creating a page on the Intensives program to include in the magazine. Lachlan and Kian followed up on all the home room pages, reminding some teachers that they have homework!
We also spent some time today discussing what it means to be a reporter or a journalist. We talked about what these jobs look like, what work they would involve and if they might be career options we would like to investigate further.

Today our whole group discussed printing options such as matte or glossy pages that we wanted to include and then Abby, Matt and Josh took all of our information down to the Nathalia printers to get a quote for the magazines production. Kate visited the wood work and art rooms to photograph a range of students work that will be showcased in the magazine. Pru prepared to interview Leanne Pell, a local hairdresser in town to find out a bit more about her story. Chelsea and Chelsea continued to work through their list of staff to interview for their profiles. Rachael and Matt edited everyone's stories, such a long but essential process to our final product!

As we start Term 4 we are nearing the deadline for our magazine to be ready; we need to have time to have it proof read and printed, as well as giving every one time to purchase it.
Today is all about organisation. We are going through our individual stories to make sure they are perfect and we have made a mock up book and folder of which stories will go where. We're going through all the finer details from font size to page borders!
More stories are still needing work as well so Chelsea and Chelsea went to find more teachers to interview, Kate asked Mr. Sciacca some more questions and Kian and Josh interviewed students and staff about the Duke of Edinburgh.

We each wrote a mini article this morning on recent events, including Nathalia Purps finals, Nathalia Primary Schools Production, and Malcom Turnbull's sneaky win over Tony Abbott. We were given a template to follow including the events key details, three main points to be written in a new paragraph each, and a suggested photo to accompany our article.
This afternoon we will need to work on our individual tasks again. Kate is working on the layout design for the magazine including the order of the articles we've all written. Matt is starting an article on the GRAIN store, Josh is editing his logo and starting an article on Nathalia's Agriculture Show, Rachael is writing an article on the Northern Angels. Abby is refining Kian's design he created to use as a header and footer on the magazines pages. Charlie is finishing off the year level pages today. Chelsea is putting together the staff profile page with all the information she gathered last week in her interviews. Pru is finishing off her page of funny year level and teacher stories.

Our team started off today with a meeting about DeBono's six thinking hats.
Discussing the six hats made us more aware of the processes we are undertaking in creating our school magazine. Making our thought processes made transparent assists us in decision making for moving forward.
We continued working on individual tasks throughout the day as well. Abby spent her time helping her team edit their work in place of Matt while he was at the GRAIN store for a careers day. Josh worked on designing a logo for the front cover, Rachael started a story about the Northern Angels, Chelsea H finished her story on new staff members, Kate looked through photos from last week to decide which ones she could publish, Charlie worked on creating year level pages to include, Kian designed individual page borders, and Pru and Kierra are including funny stories from each year level and teachers from around the school, home and community.
- The yellow hat represents the positives about our ideas and the possible outcomes.
- The black hat represents the negatives of our ideas and the challenges associated with them.
- The green hat represents the creative elements of our newspaper, from our articles to modernising the layout.
- The blue hat represents the organisation of our ideas such as decisions about how to present our finished product.
- The red hat represents emotions, and what others think and feel about our ideas.
- The white hat represents data, facts and logic; all the objective information underpinning our work.

26 August
The newspaper team printed hard copies of all our stories and put them up on display on the wall so we could see exactly what we had, and also how many pages we would need to fill still. Having a visual of how many pages our magazine will have and what it will look like, helped us to estimate our costs for printing, we also came up with three options of glossy paper, matte paper or disk. Matte won the vote by 6.
Abby, Chelsea and Pru interviewed new teaching staff at NSC this year including Tom, Ms Kay and Mr Weeding. Kate and Kiera worked on the design for the front cover.

We got stuck into beginning our individual stories, we broke off into our groups to conduct research, interviews, and began to collate all of our information gathered. We have started to get a feel for how our school magazine is going to look.
15 July
We turned our classroom into a boardroom, held a meeting and elected Matt to be the Editor for our school magazine. We allocated everyone stories to write based on our interests and areas of knowledge and experience.
